Lady Gaga Performing David Bowie Tribute at Grammys 2016

The Grammys will air an “experimental tribute” for this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award recipient David Bowie, performed by one of his biggest fans, Lady Gaga, JustJared.com can confirm.

“We had already booked Lady Gaga on this year’s show, but when David passed – almost in a single moment – we knew we had to change direction,” said executive producer of the Grammy Awards Ken Ehrlich. “We immediately spoke and agreed that she should be the one to honor David. She’s perfect for it.”

The musical director for the tribute will be Nile Rodgers, who produced David‘s 1983 album Let’s Dance.

Previously announced performers at the Grammys include Adele, James Bay, Andra Day, Ellie Goulding, Sam Hunt, Tori Kelly, Kendrick Lamar, Little Big Town, Carrie Underwood, and The Weeknd.

This is the fifth consecutive year that LL Cool J will be hosting the event, which will take place at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Don’t miss The Grammys on Monday, February 15, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS!

FYI: Gaga is nominated this year for Best Song Written For Visual Media for “Til It Happens To You” with Diane Warren.
