New Details on Prince’s Death Released By Authorities

New details on the death of Prince were revealed on Friday (April 22) during a press conference held by Sheriff Jim Olson in Minnesota.

The 57-year-old entertainer was last seen alive at 8pm on Wednesday night when he was dropped off at his home and he was discovered unresponsive in an elevator after his staff went to check on him when they couldn’t get in touch.

“CPR was initially started but was unsuccessful,” Olson said. “He was declared dead at 10:07 a.m… We have no reason to believe at this point that this was a suicide. But this is early in the investigation.”

There were “no obvious signs of trauma” and the scene was processed as “this was an unwitnessed death of a middle-aged adult.”

“We finished with our processing yesterday afternoon, and turned Paisley Park over to his representatives,” Olson added. He added that the investigation would remain open “until the autopsy results get back.”

“In life, he was a very private person,” Olson said. “We are going to continue to respect his privacy and his dignity, and we hope the public will as well.”
