Emma Gonzalez Stands in Silence During Powerful March For Our Lives Speech - Watch Now!

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student Emma Gonzalez stands in silence during her speech at March For Our Lives on Saturday (March 24) in Washington, D.C.

The high school senior stood in silence to mark six minutes and 20 seconds, the amount of time that it took for the gunman to kill 17 people at her school.

“Six minutes and about twenty seconds. In a little over six minutes, 17 of our friends were taken from us, 15 were injured, and everyone, absolutely everyone, was forever altered,” Emma began the speech. “Everyone who was there understands, everyone who has been touched by the cold grip of gun violence understands.”

“No one could comprehend the devastating aftermath or how far this reach or where this could go. For those who still can’t comprehend because they refuse to, I’ll tell you where it went. Right into the ground, six feet deep,” Emma said before listing the things the 17 people would no longer be able to do.

Emma then stood in silence with tears streaming down her face until the timer on her phone marked the six minutes and 20 seconds.
