Roseanne Killed Off on 'The Conners' Premiere - Here's How

The premiere episode of The Conners aired on Tuesday night (October 16) and Roseanne Barr‘s character’s death was revealed.

The episode began three weeks after Roseanne’s death. While the Conner family thought she died from a heart attack, the coroner’s office reveals she died from an opioid overdose.

During the season finale of Roseanne that aired in May, it seemed that Roseanne’s addiction to painkillers because of a knee injury had been resolved. That changed after real-life Roseanne made a racist tweet that led to her being fired.

Roseanne previously revealed that she was going to be killed off via a drug overdose and she felt the move was “cruel.”

“It wasn’t enough to do what they did to me,” she said in an interview last month. “They had to so cruelly insult the people who loved that family and that show.”
