Dolce & Gabanna Co-Founders Issue Apology After Receiving Backlash for Ad Campaign - Watch

Dolce & Gabanna‘s Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are asking for forgiveness.

The brand’s co-founders issued a video on Friday (November 23) apologizing after receiving backlash for their latest ad campaign, which resulted in the cancellation of a show on Wednesday (November 21) in Shanghai, China.

In the video campaign, which has been accused of being racist, a Chinese woman struggles to eat pizza and pasta with chopsticks while a narrator provides eating “lessons.”

“In the face of our cultural misunderstanding, we hope that we can earn your forgiveness,” said Domenico in Italian in their apology video with Chinese subtitles.

“We will never forget this experience and lesson, and this sort of thing will never happen again,” said Stefano.

Several retailers have reportedly pulled the brand from their stores and websites in China and Hong Kong.
