Is 'Friends' Really Leaving Netflix? An Exec Responds to Rumors

You can stop worrying about losing Friends from Netflix as it seems to have been a false alarm!

Fans got upset when they noticed that the Netflix app said Friends would be leaving the streaming service on January 1, 2019.

Now, the expiration date has been removed and Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos is speaking out about the reports. He told THR that the “departure is a rumor.” The streaming service declined to provide an official comment on the matter though.

THR notes that the expiration date appearing and disappearing happens sometimes when a contract is about to expire and a renegotiation must take place.

Friends has been on Netflix since January 1, 2015.

UPDATE: Netflix confirms Friends is staying for 2019.
