'Rent' Original Broadway Cast - Where Are They Now?

Idina Menzel – Maureen Johnson

Idina Menzel was nominated for a Tony Award for her work as Maureen in the original Broadway production of Rent. She is arguably the biggest success story from the musical!

Idina later starred in the Broadway shows Aida, Wicked (for which she won a Tony Award), and If/Then. She returned to the New York theatre scene last year for the off-Broadway play Skintight.

On the big screen, Idina has starred in the Rent movie, as well as films like Ask the Dust, Enchanted, and Frozen. She famously performed the song “Let It Go” for the animated film and helped the song win an Oscar!

Idina has released six solo albums.

Idina and Taye Diggs got married in January 2003 and they are the parents of a nine-year-old son, Walker. They announced their separation in 2013. She’s currently married to Aaron Lohr, who had a small role in the Rent movie.
