James Cameron Reacts to 'Avengers: Endgame' Beating Titanic's Box Office Numbers

Avengers: Endgame has dethroned Titanic as the second-highest grossing film of all time, and Titanic‘s director, James Cameron, has reacted to the news.

“To [Marvel Studios president] Kevin [Feige] and everybody at Marvel,” James wrote on Twitter. “An iceberg sank the real Titanic. It took the Avengers to sink my ‘Titanic.’ Everyone here at Lightstorm Entertainment salutes your amazing achievement. You’ve shown the movie industry is not only alive and well, it’s bigger than ever!”

Endgame surpassed Titanic when it earned $2.3 billion at the box office. The number one top-grossing movie of all time also happens to be a James Cameron film: Avatar. Avatar grossed $2.78 billion at the box office.
