Alex Brightman Updates 'Beetlejuice' Song to Be About the Tony Awards (And Death Too Of Course!)
Alex Brightman performs in character as the title character from Beetlejuice at the 2019 Tony Awards on Sunday (June 9) at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
The performance kicked off with Sophia Anne Caruso, Leslie Kritzer, Kerry Butler, Rob McClure, and Adam Dannheisser performing the classic song “Day-O (The Banana Boat Song).”
Alex then appeared in the audience and said, “Holy crap, I’m on live TV!”
The musical’s opening number “The Whole Being Dead Thing” was updated to have lyrics that were all about the Tony Awards, with nods to Star Wars actor Adam Driver and King Lear actress Glenda Jackson.
Beetlejuice is currently running at the Winter Garden Theater on Broadway. Get tickets!
