‘Mad Magazine’ Will Cease Publication After 67 Years (Report)

Mad Magazine is coming to an end – at least, in terms of new material.
Writers, editors and artists affiliated with the long-running parody publication said their goodbyes to the iconic brand on social media on Thursday night (July 3).
“Today won’t end. Goodbye, Mad Magazine. As a youngster I was a huge fan of the 70’s era, as a young adult I rediscovered the 50’s comics, as an old nerd I somehow became a contributor for the last decade +. Getting the e-mail today was crushing.” wrote contributor Evan Dorkin on Twitter.
DC Comics confirmed with CNET that Mad Magazine will stop being available for sale on newsstands after issue #9 in August. After that, Mad Magazine will only be available via subscription and direct markets, and will only feature reprints of classic articles and comics.
It will also still publish an annual year-end issue, as well as occasional books and special editions.
Mad Magazine first launched in 1952 at EC Comics.
