BIGBANG Member T.O.P Released From Military Service Amid Controversy
T.O.P, born Choi Seung-hyun, is done with his military service.
The 31-year-old South Korean BIGBANG boy band member was released on Saturday (July 6) from alternative military service following controversy.
T.O.P began his mandatory service as a police officer in February of 2017, but was kicked out after a few months after it was discovered that he smoked marijuana in 2016. He received a 10-month jail sentence with a two year probation, and then started as a public service worker in January of 2018.
Three other BIGBANG members are also serving their mandatory military sentence. Seungri, who was a member of the group, was removed from the group after being investigated for drug use and sexual abuse.
“Even though I am not proud of myself, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the fans who made time and efforts to share this moment with me. I will make sure to reflect on my self and repay the hurts and disappointments I caused to you. Again, thank you. Until I see you again.. love, T.O.P.” he wrote in a post on his Instagram on Sunday (June 7).
