Kelly Clarkson's Advice for Taylor Swift Re-Recording Her Masters Came From Another Celebrity!

Kelly Clarkson makes an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Sunday evening (September 8) in New York City.

The 37-year-old singer’s own talk show is debuting today on NBC, and she went on the show to promote her brand new show.

On the show, Kelly addressed the advice to gave to Taylor Swift – to re-record her masters after Scooter Braun purchased them himself.

“I wasn’t really trying to defend or offend anyone,” Kelly explained “It was more like [my mother-in-law Reba McEntire] told me she did that…She re-cut all her music and did the same musicians, same everything. That’s where I got the idea.”

“She’s been writing since she was a little girl, right? So it’s kind of her diary,” Kelly added about Taylor. “I don’t really care about owning my own masters. I’m just like, ‘Whatever, I’m going to sing until I’m dead. It’s fine. It will be fine. And then somebody can make money off of it. I don’t care.’”

Taylor recently did announce that she will be re-recording her masters.
