Jane Fonda Accepted an Award While Being Arrested on Friday

Jane Fonda was arrested on Friday (October 25) for the third time this month during a climate protest in Washington, D.C… but this time she did something a little different.

The 81-year-old actress and activist was set to be honored with the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award in Los Angeles that day, so she gave her acceptance speech while being arrested!

“I’m sorry that I’m not there, but as you may have heard I’ve been getting arrested,” Jane said in a pre-recorded video that was played at the event. “I decided that I needed to do more, so I moved to D.C. for four months and I’m trying to heighten the sense of urgency there needs to be. Anyway, that’s why I’m not with you tonight, but it’s for a good cause.”

Jane can be heard yelling “thank you” to BAFTA while the cops were placing her under arrest. She was arrested alongside friend Ted Danson that day!
