Ari Lennox Says She Quits Music After Losing at Soul Train Awards

Ari Lennox is calling it a day.

The 28-year-old Shea Butter Baby singer spoke out in a series of tweets on Tuesday (November 19) following this weekend’s BET Soul Train Awards, where she was nominated in three categories, but did not win.

“I made a soul album for black people. I made my album for black people lol…I just don’t understand. At all actually. But cool,” she wrote.

“It’s not just an award. It wasn’t any award show. It was the soul train awards. As you can see I’m big fan of soul music and huge fan of soul trains history…being snubbed was something I always expected and was definitely prepared for just not by them.”

“I’m not selling out. So I quit,” she went on to say.
