'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' Features Franchise's First Same Sex Kiss

The first showings of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker have been completed and viewers are noting something historic in the franchise: the movie’s first same-sex kiss occurs, THR reports!

The kiss is between two members of the resistance, and the characters are not ones that are heavily featured anywhere else in the film.

Director J.J. Abrams had hinted that there would be a moment representing inclusion for the LGBTQ community.

“And in the case of the LGBTQ community, it was important to me that people who go to see this movie feel that they’re being represented in the film,” he previously told Variety.
