Drake Explains the Reason He Waited to Confirm His Son's Birth

Drake‘s son Adonis was a total secret from the world until Pusha T revealed the news in his song directed at Drake, “The Story of Adidon.”

Pusha T rapped in May of 2018, “You are hiding a child / Let that boy come home / Deadbeat motherf–ka, playin’ border control.” Drake confirmed Adonis‘ birth one month later, and fans wondered why he waited so long. He was reportedly born in 2017.

Now, Drake is revealing why he waited to confirm the news.

“To be honest with you, I did a DNA test for my son and it came back to us and it said the DNA test got ruined in transit and they couldn’t be 100 percent sure that that was my son or not,” he said on the Rap Radar podcast. “So, I was in a really weird pending situation where I didn’t want to go tell the world that that was my son and it wasn’t.”

Drake also responded to rumors that he was going to announce his son’s birth in conjunction with an Adidas collaboration.

“At the time I was working with Adidas and we were toying with the idea of a name being a play off of my son’s name,” he said. “I wasn’t revealing my son with Adidas.”

This is one of the first times Drake has spoken about his son, who he shares with Sophie Brussaux, in a public interview.
