'The Notebook' Costume Designer Comments About Kobe Bryant Buying Allie's Dress For Wife Vanessa Bryant

This week, Vanessa Bryant shared a romantic story about her late husband Kobe gifting her with Allie’s iconic blue dress from The Notebook.

“When I asked him why he chose the blue dress, he said it was because it was the scene when Allie comes back to Noah. We had hoped to grow old together like the movie,” Vanessa shared of the reason behind the gift during her eulogy at the Celebration of Life event on Monday (February 24).

Upon hearing of the gift, the film’s costume designer, Karyn Wagner, revealed she started crying.

“I was already crying and when I heard that, I started crying even harder. It was just so beautiful,” she told E! News. “I just want to say how happy I am to have brought some joy to this beautiful couple. Listening to her eulogy, I was so honored. I am so sorry for her loss and I wish her all the healing light in the world.”

Karyn didn’t know what happened to the dress passed putting it in a box for storage, and didn’t know how Kobe got it either.

However, “what I do know is he had to go through a lot of trouble to get his hands on it.”
