Ben & Jerry's Free Cone Day Postponed Because of Coronavirus

A lot of things have been cancelled and postponed because of coronavirus fears – SXSW, Coachella, and live audience tapings, among many others.

But the biggest cancellation just happened – Ben & Jerry‘s Free Cone Day!

The company made the sad announcement today through social media.

“This year, some of our scoop shops in communities around the world will be unable to take part in Free Cone Day due to precautions put in place by local governments around large public gatherings, considering the increasing presence of COVID-19,” Ben & Jerry’s said in a statement. “To stand in solidarity with ice cream lovers everywhere, we have made the difficult decision to postpone Free Cone Day this year.”

Free Cone Day happens every year during the second week of April, where fans can scoop up their fave flavors at no cost.

Ben & Jerry’s did state that they are hoping to reschedule the day, but don’t have an idea of when just yet.

Fans have shared their disappointment about the cancellation, but understand it’s for safety.
