Scotland's Chief Medical Officer Responds to Backlash Over Prince Charles Receiving Coronavirus Test

There has been some backlash over why Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall were able to both get tested for Coronavirus, aka COVID-19, when his symptoms are mild and she has tested negative.

The UK’s National Health System (aka the NHS) has expressly stated on their website that people will “generally’ be tested if they have “a serious illness that requires admission to hospital.”

The BBC is noting that “many frontline medical workers” cannot obtain tests for patients.

Catherine Calderwood, the Chief Medical Officer for Scotland, responded in a statement.

“I have spoken to the team…who were looking after the individual [Prince Charles]. My understanding is there were very good reasons for that person and his wife to be tested, and obviously I wouldn’t be able to disclose anything else that I know because of patient confidentiality,” she said.
