Joe Biden to Meet with George Floyd's Family Ahead of His Funeral in Texas

Joe Biden will be traveling to Houston, Texas to help honor George Floyd.

The 77-year-old former Vice President will be meeting with George‘s family on Monday (June 8) in order to pay his respects before George is laid to rest later that day, People reports.

Biden, who just secured the Democratic nomination for the 2020 presidential election, will also be recording a message that will be played during the funeral service.

Vice President Biden will not attend the funeral because his Secret Service team did not want to cause any disruptions.

George‘s brother Philonise Floyd revealed he recently spoke with the former vice president, where he said: “I never had to beg a man before but I asked [Biden] could he please, please get justice for my brother, please. Because I need it, I just don’t want to see him on a shirt like those other guys. Nobody deserves that.”

George was killed back on May 25 after a white police officer in Minneapolis knelt on his neck for more than eight minutes. Since his death, there have been peaceful protests all of the country fight against racial injustice and police brutality.
