Danny Masterson's Lawyer Speaks Out About His Rape Charges

Danny Masterson‘s lawyer has issued a statement following him being formally charged with three counts of rape today.

In an update via Variety, criminal defense attorney Tom Meserau revealed that they plan to fight the charges against the former That 70s Show actor.

“Mr. Masterson is innocent, and we’re confident that he will be exonerated when all the evidence finally comes to light and witnesses have the opportunity to testify,” he stated.

“Obviously, Mr. Masterson and his wife are in complete shock considering that these nearly 20-year old allegations are suddenly resulting in charges being filed, but they and their family are comforted knowing that ultimately the truth will come out,” the statement concluded. “The people who know Mr. Masterson know his character and know the allegations to be false.”

Under investigation since 2016, Danny faces up to 45 years in prison for the charges.

The District Attorney’s office also said that it decided against filing charges against Danny in two other cases.

In the first instance, there wasn’t enough substantial evidence to convict him after a woman claimed she was repeatedly raped by him while living with him in 2002. In the second, another woman claimed she was unconscious while Danny took advantage of her two times. That case was declined due to the statute of limitations.
