Disney World Reopens in Florida While Coronavirus Cases Rise - See Photos
Disney World has reopened in Florida after being shut down for nearly four months during the coronavirus pandemic.
Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom are now open again for guests, even though Florida has had a recent surge in COVID-19 infections. The other parks open on Wednesday.
On Friday, one day before the reopening, Florida reported 11,433 new cases of COVID-19 and 435 more hospitalizations, which marks the state’s largest single-day rise in hospitalizations.
The thousands of people who are going to Disney World are required to have a temperature checks and bag searches are being limited to minimize contact between guests and employees. Almost all of the shows that are normally performed are suspended and character meet-and-greets have been stopped.
Face coverings are required for all guests (ages 2 and up) and all employees are required to wear them as well.
