'The Kissing Booth 2' Ending Explained, Joey King Talks Possible Third Movie! (Spoilers)

The Netflix movie The Kissing Booth 2 was just released and it ends on a major cliffhanger so we’ve gotta discuss what happened at the end of the film!

Joey King, Joel Courtney, and Jacob Elordi all returned for the sequel to their hit film and they are joined by newcomers Taylor Zakhar Perez and Maisie Richardson-Sellers.

Here is the movie’s synopsis: Elle Evans (King) just had the most romantic summer of her life with her reformed bad-boy boyfriend Noah Flynn (Elordi). But now Noah is off to Harvard, and Elle heads back to high school for her senior year. She’ll have to juggle a long-distance relationship, getting into her dream college with her best friend Lee (Courtney), and the complications brought on by a close friendship with a handsome, charismatic new classmate named Marco (Perez). When Noah grows close to a seemingly-perfect college girl Chloe (Richardson-Sellers), Elle will have to decide how much she trusts him and to whom her heart truly belongs.

So, what happened at the end of the movie? Will there be a third film?

Elle and Noah’s relationship becomes strained after she visits him at Harvard and finds an earring under his bed, which she later discovers is Chloe’s. She thinks that he’s cheating on her and she ends up growing close to Marco, who becomes her dance partner in a competition. Not knowing that Noah is in the audience, Elle shares a kiss with Marco on stage after finishing their prize-winning dance routine. Things get even more complicated in Elle and Noah’s relationship when she shows up at his house for Thanksgiving the next day and Chloe is there too.

Elle’s friendship with Lee also takes a turn at Thanksgiving when his girlfriend Rachel (Meganne Young) is finally fed up with her always being a third-wheel in their relationship. He also finds out that she secretly applied to colleges in Boston so she can be closer to Noah, instead of sticking to their plan to go to college together at UC Berkeley. Elle ends up patching things up with Rachel and she gets back together with Lee.

This whole time, Marco was developing feelings for Elle and she keeps ignoring him after that kiss at the dance competition. When he finally gets one-on-one time with her at the Kissing Booth, she realizes that she still wants to be with Noah and runs after him at the airport. While at the airport with Chloe, Noah also realized that he still wants to be with Elle. She shows up at the airport and he is gone, but she finds Chloe, who explains that nothing ever happened between them. She also says that Noah brought her home for Thanksgiving in hopes that she and Elle would become friends. Elle texts Noah and they meet up at the gazebo and share a romantic moment while reconciling their relationship!

We then fast forward to graduation and Elle and Lee are discussing college. Lee reveals that he was accepted to UC Berkeley, but Elle says that she was waitlisted at every school she applied to.

THIS ISN’T TRUE THOUGH! We see Elle open up the letters from both UC Berkeley and Harvard… and she was accepted to both!

The movie ends on a cliffhanger and we don’t find out where Elle will be going to school, which leaves us wondering, will there be a third movie?!

Joey discussed a possible third movie with The Today Show earlier this week. She said, “Well, me and the cast have been talking and we want that so bad and we’re kind of relying on the fans to help us out. They loved the first one so much and they’re the reason that we got a sequel. So if they love this one and they make it known to the world and to Netflix, our fingers are crossed that Netflix will give us a third movie because that’s what we want really badly.”
