Ben Affleck to Write & Direct New Movie About the Making of 'Chinatown'

Ben Affleck has signed on to write and direct the upcoming movie The Big Goodbye, which will follow the behind-the-scenes story of the making of the classic film Chinatown.

The movie will be based on the book “The Big Goodbye: Chinatown and the Last Years of Hollywood” by Sam Wasson.

SNL creator Lorne Michaels is the one who brought the book to Paramount Pictures and he’ll produce alongside Ben. You might remember that Ben once dated one of Lorne‘s closest colleagues, Lindsay Shookus.

Deadline reports that “the story is very dear to hearts of the Paramount community as it was one of the great deals made by studio head Robert Evans.”

Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway starred in the movie Chinatown, which was directed by Roman Polanski. We’ll have to wait and see who will be picked to portray them in the new film.

Throughout the last few months of quarantine, Ben has been spotted many times while out and about with his new girlfriend.
