'Ellen Show' Execs Knew of Toxic Workplace Allegation Since 2018

The executives behind The Ellen DeGeneres Show were already aware of an allegation of a toxic workplace culture at least two years ago, Buzzfeed News reported Tuesday (August 25).

Following a series of reports and allegations of sexual misconduct and harassment from behind-the-scenes of the long-running daytime TV show, the outlet reported that “one current and one former employee said a complaint was filed with an industry union in 2018 that alleged gender discrimination, including sexist remarks made by top producers.”

A spokesperson for Warner Bros. confirmed the 2018 complaint in a statement, but added that “there is nothing new or noteworthy about this issue. It was investigated by an outside investigator and resolved with no merit to claims of gender discrimination. As previously stated, we are committed to changing the things that need to change and moving forward in a constructive and positive way.”

The previous investigation has “left many Ellen employees skeptical of the new, ongoing investigation into the toxic work culture on the show,” with some former employees calling it a “publicity ploy.”

A series of celebrities have since called out Ellen DeGeneres for various reasons. Find out who…
