Zendaya Isn't Halfway To EGOT Status Because Of This Grammy Rule

Over the weekend, Zendaya became the youngest winner ever to win the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series at the 2020 Emmy Awards.

After winning, many fans were sure that the 24-year-old actress was already halfway into achieving EGOT status, which is an elite league of entertainers who have all been awarded an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award.

However, Zendaya isn’t a Grammy winner, even though she is featured on The Greatest Showman soundtrack that won the award for best compilation soundtrack for visual media in 2018.

There’s actually a rule that actually blocks Zendaya from adding that achievement to her resume.

According to Billboard, the rule states that “an artist or producer must be credited on at least half of the playing time of a soundtrack to win in that category.”

Zendaya is featured on three, while co-star Hugh Jackman is credited seven of the 12 tracks, and listed as one of the Grammy winners.

Billboard also states that Zendaya could possibly be nominated for her collab with Labrinth on the Euphoria soundtrack for best song written for visual media for “All For Us”, however, it’s a very competitive category.
