Moana's Auli'i Cravalho Says She's Recognized More By Parents Than Kids

Auli’i Cravalho doesn’t tire of people recognizing her as Moana, but did admit its more the parents than their kids most times.

Speaking with People in a new interview, the 19-year-old actress revealed that more and more parents are recognizing her rather than the young kids that the Disney movie is geared to.

“It’s really funny, actually. A lot of parents recognize me as Moana and then kids will be like, ‘I’m sorry, do you see this girl? She does not look like her,’” Auli’i shared. “And I’m like, ‘I get it. I really do. It’s a blow to my heart, but also I feel you, kid’.”

She does admit that “whenever I am recognized, it’s really neat”, even if she’s wearing her face mask in her new adopted home of Los Angeles.

“While I’m here, living in L.A., wearing a mask kind of keeps me protected in the grocery store and I can finally buy soup without a kid being like, ‘Are you Moana?’ And then I have to sing, ‘I am Moana.’ You know, it just makes the trip a little bit shorter,” she says.

Earlier this year, Auli’i opened up about her sexual identity. See what she said here…
