Dan Reynolds Opens Up About His AS Diagnosis

Dan Reynolds is getting candid.

The 33-year-old Imagine Dragons frontman is opening up about his battle with chronic pain due to ankylosing spondylitis in an interview with Us Magazine.

“It got to a point where I couldn’t perform. I could hardly get out of bed. I went to different doctors and they didn’t know what was going on, or they thought they knew what was going on and they’d misdiagnosed me … until I finally saw rheumatologists who diagnosed me with ankylosing spondylitis — or AS — and put me on the road to recovery and really changed my whole life for the better,” he explained.

“It’s a battle that I have every day when I wake up. But I have a treatment plan, I have people on my side. I have a community behind me,” he continued.

“I still have flareups here and there, but I have a plan of action,” he added.

He also talked about partnering with the Monster Pain in the AS campaign.

“It’s such a mouthful, and it just sounds so intimidating…millions of people are suffering from it. The whole goal is this catchy slogan, kind of tongue in cheek, to bring it to the mainstream, so when people go to the doctor, they might have an idea.”

Another star revealed she is suffering with chronic pain.
