Al Roker Reveals He Has Prostate Cancer

Al Roker is revealing a diagnosis.

The 66-year-old Today show co-host announced on Friday’s show (November 6) that he has prostate cancer, and will soon undergo surgery.

“After a routine check-up in September, turns out I have prostate cancer. And it’s a good news-bad news kind of thing. The good news is we caught it early, not great news is that it’s a little aggressive so I’m going to be taking some time off to take care of this,” he explained.

The diagnosis was discovered due to his high prostate-specific antigen level, discovered during a physical on September 29. He then underwent an MRI and a biopsy, which confirmed his diagnosis.

He will have his prostate removed and said he hopes to return to the NBC program in two weeks.

“I don’t want people thinking, ‘Poor Al’ because I’m going to be OK,” he assured.

Our best thoughts go to Al Roker in his recovery.
