T.R. Knight returned!

During episode four of the season, Meredith’s dream took her back to the beach and T.R. Knight‘s character George O’Malley was leaning on the railing of a lifeguard tower.

Back in season five, George decided to join the U.S. Army, but before he left, he was involved in a bus accident. His friends at the hospital tried to keep him alive, but he was declared braindead.

When Meredith discovered George on the beach, they both seemed to be confused to see each other. They caught up on the lifeguard stand and he told her that she has beautiful kids. “I check in sometimes,” he said.

Meredith asked George how he got to look older. He replied, “The sand isn’t real. The ocean isn’t real. Body? It’s not real. Maybe it’s just more peaceful for you to imagine me older?”

Meredith also asked George if she gets to choose if she goes back to real life or stays in this fantasy forever. He replied, “I don’t know. I didn’t. I would’ve stayed, if I could’ve. It’s different for everyone though.”
