Selena Gomez is singing in Spanish!

The 28-year-old Rare superstar debuted her Spanish-language single “De Una Vez” on Thursday (January 14), along with the accompanying music video.

The song’s title “De Una Vez” has also appeared on murals around Mexico, which she confirmed to be part of the campaign after liking fan tweets.

Selena fans have been waiting for a Spanish album from Selena for over a decade, which she acknowledged with a funny throwback to herself.

“Can’t wait for y’all to hear the Spanish record ;) it’s sounding so cool,” she wrote on Twitter all the way back in 2011.

“I think it will be worth the wait,” she reacted.

“You know what’s funny, is I actually think I sing better in Spanish. That was something I discovered. It was a lot of work, and look, you cannot mispronounce anything. It is something that needed to be precise, and needed to be respected by the audience I’m going to release this for. Of course I want everyone to enjoy the music, but I am targeting my fan base. I’m targeting my heritage, and I couldn’t be more excited,” she told Zane Lowe on Apple Music.

“You’re starting to listen to half-English, half-Spanish on the radio more than ever. And it’s a really exciting time. And I think that I just hope that people understand how much I put my heart into this, and how amazing I feel about it.”

The title of the song, “De Una Vez,” translates to “At Once” in English. Here is a translation of the chorus into English: “Once and for all / I’m stronger alone (I’m stronger alone) / I do not regret the past / I know that time by your side clipped my wings / But now this chest is bulletproof.”
