Oscars 2021 Will Take Place in Multiple Locations for Coronavirus Safety Reasons

The Academy is stressing the importance of public health and safety amid the Coronavirus pandemic, and thus, the 2021 Oscars will take place from multiple locations.

The Oscars, which were pushed back to late April 2021 from February 2021, traditionally take place in one large auditorium with everyone gathered to watch together. However, due to COVID-19 and the restrictions that will likely be in place in April, gatherings are not recommended.

“In this unique year that has asked so much of so many, the Academy is determined to present an Oscars like none other, while prioritizing the public health and safety of all those who will participate. To create the in-person show our global audience wants to see, while adapting to the requirements of the pandemic, the ceremony will broadcast live from multiple locations, including the landmark Dolby Theatre. We look forward to sharing more details soon,” a spokesperson for the Academy told Variety.

Another report about the Oscars and how they would go about doing an in person show was reported a few months ago.

This year’s show will take place on April 25. Stay tuned.
