Paramount+ Announces 30+ Exciting New Shows, Including Reboots of Classic Movies

Paramount+ will be launching on March 4 and there are so many exciting shows in the works for the new streaming service, which was previously known as CBS All Access.

The streamer will continue to air all of the shows you know and love from CBS All Access, like the Star Trek franchise and The Good Fight. Over 30 new shows are confirmed to be in the works, including some reboots of beloved movies from the Paramount library.

Paramount also has announced that three to four movies will be made directly for the streaming service each year. They revealed the three movies that are in the works for 2021 and they include a Joey King movie and reboots of two horror franchises.

Two highly anticipated movies will also be heading to Paramount+ just 45 days after they hit theaters later this year.

The streaming service’s pricing plans were also just announced.

SHOWS BASED ON PARAMOUNT MOVIES

Love Story
Love Story, a new take on the 1970 movie, has a script to series commitment and will be executive produced by Gossip Girl and The O.C. creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. They said in a statement, “From the main title theme to the class conflict and classic American style, Love Story is truly iconic. We’re beyond excited to update it for the next generation, and to be working again with Nicole and the Paramount Television Studios team as well our friends at CBS Television Studios.”

Fatal Attraction
Fatal Attraction, a reimagining of the the 1987 thriller movie, has a script to series commitment. The new take will “be told through the lens of modern attitudes when it comes to strong women, personality disorders, victim shaming and coercive control.”

The Parallax View
A series adaptation of the 1974 movie The Parallax View is in development. The Warren Beatty movie revolved “around a reporter’s investigation into a secretive organization, the Parallax Corp., whose primary focus is political assassination.”

Flashdance
A series based on the 1983 movie Flashdance has a script to pilot commitment and it will “focus on a Black woman struggling to make her mark in the ballet world and will pick up from where the story left off — but in present day.”

The Italian Job
A series based on the action film The Italian Job is in the works. It “revolves around the grandchildren of the legendary Charlie Croker (Michael Caine‘s character in the 1969 movie) who inherit his old safety deposit box and reignite the quest for the infamous Italian bullion.”

The Godfather
A previously announced series is The Offer, which is about the making of The Godfather. Armie Hammer was supposed to star in the series, but he recently exited the project.

Grease
Another previously announced series is Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, a prequel series that will revolve around Frenchy’s older sister Jane and how she founded the Pink Ladies.

REBOOTS OF BELOVED COMEDY SHOWS

Frasier
Kelsey Grammer will be reprising his role as Frasier Crane in a Frasier reboot series for the new streaming service.

Inside Amy Schumer
Amy Schumer will bring five new Inside Amy Schumer specials to the streamer. The show hasn’t aired since 2016.

Reno 911
A new Reno 911 series, titled Reno 911! The Hunt for QAnon, will be a “supersized” event based on the popular Comedy Central series.

Workaholics
Blake Anderson, Adam Devine, Anders Holm and Kyle Newacheck will all return for a Workaholics movie, based on the popular Comedy Central series.

Beavis and Butt-head
A Beavis and Butt-head movie is in the works for Paramount+ and it will be a follow-up to the 1996 film Beavis and Butt-head Do America. The movie will launch on the streaming service and then a revival series will air on Comedy Central.

Younger
The final season of Sutton Foster and Hilary Duff‘s series Younger will be debuting on Paramount+ before it airs on TV Land.

KIDS PROGRAMMING

Dora the Explorer
A live-action remake of the Nickelodeon animated series Dora the Explorer is in the works and it’s said to be in the vein of the 2019 film Dora and the Lost City of Gold.

The Fairly OddParents
There’s also a live-action remake in the works for The Fairly OddParents.

Rugrats
The original voice cast of Rugrats is returning to voice the beloved characters in an all-new CG-animated series that will air on Paramount+.

Avatar: The Last Airbender
Nickelodeon is launching Avatar Studios to create a whole universe for Avatar: The Last Airbender. They will be producing content for the network and also Paramount+, in addition to theatrical releases.

DRAMA SHOWS

Halo
Showtime was developing a live-action adaptation of the popular video game Halo, but now it will be going to Paramount+.

Yellowstone franchise
The Yellowstone prequel series Y:1883 will be airing on Paramount+ and it was just announced that a spinoff series, 6666, featuring ranch hands Jimmy Hurdstrom and Walker is also in the works.

Land Man
Land Man, to be created by Yellowstone‘s Taylor Sheridan, “is based on the 11-part podcast about how the West Texas oil industry is reshaping the country’s climate, economy and geopolitics.”

Mayor of Kingstown
Jeremy Renner will star in the series Mayor of Kingstown, which is also from Sheridan. The series “follows the McLusky family — power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. Tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption and inequality, the series provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town that has neither. Renner will play the head of the McClusky family.”

Lioness
Lioness is another series from Taylor Sheridan and it’s a spy drama “about a young Marine recruited to befriend the daughter of a terrorist in order to bring the organization down.”

American Tragedy
The popular Paramount Network series Waco, which later became a hit on Netflix, is becoming an anthology series. American Tragedy will “tackle complicated moments in true crime.”

Criminal Minds
A Criminal Minds revival series is in the works!

REALITY SHOWS & MUSIC SPECIALS

The Weekly Show with Trevor Noah
Trevor Noah, who hosts The Daily Show for Comedy Central, will be bringing a weekly series to the streaming service. The Weekly Show with Trevor Noah will “look at stories across society and talks with the people behind the headlines.” Six episodes have been ordered so far.

The Real World
The original cast of The Real World will be returning for The Real World Homecoming: New York. It launches on Paramount+ premiere date March 4.

Queen of the Universe
Queen of the Universe will be a singing competition that will “see drag queens from all around the world compete to see who is Queen of The Universe.” It’s being produced by the team behind RuPaul’s Drag Race.

New seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Road Rules, and The Challenge: All Stars are in the works.

From Cradle to Stage
Dave Grohl and his mom Virginia are working on the upcoming non-scripted series From Cradle to Stage, based on her book. The six-part series, “directed by Dave Grohl, will tell stories of the special relationship between successful musicians and their moms. Each episode features a famous performer and his or her mother as well as Dave and Virginia.”

MTV Unplugged
MTV’s Unplugged is returning with several Paramount+ specials to air throughout the year.

Yo! MTV Raps
Yo! MTV Raps, which aired back in the 80s and 90s, is returning “with hosted segments, live performances and lifestyle content in the hip-hop genre.”

Behind the Music
Behind the Music is also returning. The “new version will still feature deep-dive profiles of artists and bands (including remastered versions of prior installments) with an updated visual style.”
