Here's Everything That Jennifer Lopez & Alex Rodriguez Have Said About Their Wedding They Just Called Off

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez have sadly decided to end their engagement and relationship, according to multiple reports.

The A-list couple got engaged two years ago, almost exactly to the day.

There’s been no announcement from either Jennifer or Alex about what happened for them to call the engagement off, however, fans might think it’s because of these rumors that were floating around earlier in the year.

“This has been a long time coming,” a source told People about the split.

Jennifer and Alex were last photographed together in February hanging out in the Dominican Republic while Jennifer filmed her upcoming movie Shotgun Wedding. They were also seen out just before Valentine’s Day in Miami, Fla.

All of these celebrity couples have also split in 2021.

“We haven’t started planning yet. You know, we just got engaged! Then right afterwards we started working right away, and we’re working the rest of the year, so I don’t know what’s going to happen,” Jennifer said during an interview on WKTU’s Cubby & Carolina In the Morning. “We haven’t decided if we’re going to squeeze it in somewhere or we’re going to wait, so, you know. I really don’t know yet. It’s easy, I’m not lying right now!”

“[Marriage is] important for both of us. We both come from traditional Latin families and we want that. Everyone wants somebody to grow old with. At the end of the day, how much work can you do, how much money can you make, and what does it all matter? It doesn’t, really,” Jennifer told ES Magazine.

“When you think about wedding plans and Jennifer is your partner, all you do is — you do a lot of nodding,” Alex shared. “I don’t know where the location is, I don’t know what I’m wearing, I don’t know when it is. I’ll just show up.”

“I got one clue for y’all. One wedding clue,” he added. “It’s gonna be a long flight.”

“Actually, it did affect it a little bit, so we will see what happens now,” Jennifer told Ellen DeGeneres on postponing the wedding. “Honestly, I really don’t know what’s going to happen now, as far as dates or anything like that. We’re just kind of in a holding pattern like the rest of the world. It’s something that we’ll have to wait and see in a few months, how this all pans out.”

The wedding was postponed “indefinitely”, a source shared.

“They have been struggling for weeks over this decision, but with no return to normalcy in the near future, the couple felt postponing the wedding was the safest and smartest choice. Guests have recently been notified that the wedding will not be happening in late summer as anticipated.”

“There’s no planning right now. You just have to kind of wait and see how this all plays out…I’m a little heartbroken because we did have some great plans but I’m also like, you know what, god has a bigger plan, so we just have to wait and see. Maybe it’s going to be better. I have to believe that it will be,” she told the Today show.

Jennifer opened up about delaying their nuptials twice.

“You know we’ve talked about so many different things cause we had to cancel the wedding last year because of COVID, because of the quarantine,” she shared. “…We actually did it twice, which people don’t know, where we had it in different times – first one canceled and then second one canceled as well – and so I don’t know.”

“I think we just feel like, ‘Let’s just wait it out.’ There’s no rush. We’re good. Everything’s cool. It will happen when the time is right.”

Jennifer opened up about if she and Alex will be a couple like Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell instead of marrying.

“We’ve talked about that for sure,” Jennifer shared. “I mean at our age, we’ve both been married before, it’s like, do we get married? Do we not? What does it mean for us?”

She adds that the conversation always “comes down to like personal, like, what do you want to do? There’s definitely no rush though.”

Jennifer spoke of her nuptials to Alex, saying, “it was really sad because we were supposed to get married in June and we had planned at all. So in March or April, we’re looking down the pipe and we’re going, ‘this is maybe not going to happen.’ Italy’s the worst place in the world. And we were going to get married in Italy. It was, yeah, it was like, I was like, ‘okay, we got to cancel everything.’ And we just started kind of like, and we had to put out all this money and all this stuff, we were like, we gotta cancel it. So we, we canceled it. And then we try to regroup for later in the year, a few months ago. And I was like, ‘Nope, still not the right time.’ So it was just a little disappointing.”

“Then you just think to yourself, well, things will happen in their divine time in a way, but the same thing with like the Goldie thing and Kurt, you think, do you have to, should we, it just kind of gave us a moment to pause and think about it,” she adds. “I think it’s something that maybe is still important to us, but there’s no rush, you know, there’s no rush it’ll happen when it happens.”

“We postponed the wedding twice. We had planned what we really, really wanted to do, [but] I don’t know if we’ll be able to re-create that,” Jennifer said about the delays. “We canceled it, and since then we haven’t really talked about it. There’s no rush. We want to do it right when we can do it. We just have to wait to see where the world lands.”
