Elton John, Lauren Jauregui & More Stars Slam The Vatican Says The Church Will Not Bless Same-Sex Marriages

Stars are speaking out after hearing about The Vatican‘s response about same sex marriages.
“Does the Church have the power to give the blessing to unions of persons of the same sex?” was the question and they responded with negative, according to Reuters.
“It is not licit to impart a blessing on relationships, or partnerships, even stable, that involve sexual activity outside of marriage (i.e., outside the indissoluble union of a man and a woman open in itself to the transmission of life), as is the case of the unions between persons of the same sex[6],” they wrote in their response. “The presence in such relationships of positive elements, which are in themselves to be valued and appreciated, cannot justify these relationships and render them legitimate objects of an ecclesial blessing, since the positive elements exist within the context of a union not ordered to the Creator’s plan.”
“Furthermore, since blessings on persons are in relationship with the sacraments, the blessing of homosexual unions cannot be considered licit,” the Vatican’s explanation continued. “This is because they would constitute a certain imitation or analogue of the nuptial blessing[7] invoked on the man and woman united in the sacrament of Matrimony, while in fact ‘there are absolutely no grounds for considering homosexual unions to be in any way similar or even remotely analogous to God’s plan for marriage and family’[8].”
After hearing of the news, many stars including Billy Eichner, Lauren Jauregui, Sunny Hostin, and even Elton John, slammed the church and the statement.
How can the Vatican refuse to bless gay marriages because they “are sin”, yet happily make a profit from investing millions in “Rocketman” – a film which celebrates my finding happiness from my marriage to David?? #hypocrisy@VaticanNews @Pontifex pic.twitter.com/sURtrWB6Nd

“But it’s cool for them to molest children….bet,” Lauren wrote in the first of a pair of tweets. “Also let’s not forget how most Catholics that exist today got here..look up ‘The Inquisition’ and ‘The Crusades’ I promise you that marrying a couple that loves each other is the least of the Church’s worries as far as disobeying God goes.”

Pope Francis has been known for his support for the right of gay couples to have civil legal protections but has always opposed gay marriage.

Maybe I’m just an OG hag, but I’m pretty sure the gays are going to keep getting married. You know how they are with the civil rights…ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM. This could end up being a good day for “sin”
Carry on. 🏳️🌈💪🏳️🌈 https://t.co/HcxxWctheP— Kathy Griffin (@kathygriffin) March 15, 2021
On a serious note, to everyone who goes out of their way to talk about how “cool” this pope is…NO. The Catholic Church has abused the LGBTQ community for MILLENIA. So, go to church if you need to I guess but THAT’s what you’re enabling. Bye!

So while Pope Francis called for civil same sex unions, he says priests cannot bless those unions because they are “not ordered to the Creator’s plan” are “illicit”and that God “cannot bless sin.” I’m so disappointed in the church and the Pope. https://t.co/dbCdFDpJo4

The Catholic Church is the main cause of homophobia! It’s time they remove their sinful teachings from our schools and Life! You don’t own God! 🙏🏼@Pontifex we cannot bless you pic.twitter.com/gIuiUjJbAT

This is profoundly disappointing news. Although I'm not particularly religious anymore, I was baptized Catholic & (on one side)come from a big Irish Catholic family. Pope Francis @Pontifex started giving me hope 4 the future of Catholicism; generally & not for my personal sake… https://t.co/pa1PNkLvDr
