19-Year-Old Tennis Star Jack Draper Collapses During Miami Open Match - See What Happened

Tennis player Jack Draper had a scary moment happen during his match at the 2021 Miami Open this week.
The moment happened while Jack, 19, was playing in a match against Kazakhstan’s Mikhail Kukushkin on Thursday (March 25) in Miami, Fla.
Jack, who tested positive for coronavirus back in January, had his heart-rate checked during the game after he appeared to be distressed, but he decided to continue playing. The players were facing high temperatures during the match.
After the players switched sides, Jack was attempting to return a shot and he fell to the ground. Medical personal quickly rushed to his side.

“At the changeover, I was starting to feel my body a bit. I said that I’m going to carry on because I wasn’t feeling faint,” Jack said (via News.com.au). “But obviously when I got out there, that wasn’t the case. On the last point, I didn’t collapse. I actually just tripped because I was starting to feel really dizzy and stuff.”
Jack previously said that his battle with coronavirus affected him “quite badly for seven days” and he says there’s a possibility the virus had an effect on him during the Miami Open.
“I’ve put in loads of great training since then, so it’s no excuse, but did it have an effect on me at the time? Probably,” he said. “With a lot of these things you don’t know how much it really affects you.”
Jack will be flying home to England for another tournament coming up soon.
