Helen Mirren Will Play Israel's Only Female Prime Minister in 'Golda'

Helen Mirren is taking on an exciting new role!

According to Deadline, the 75-year-old actress is set to star as Israel’s only female Prime Minster, Golda Meir, in a new biopic.

The movie will focus on Golda – also known as the “Iron Lady of Israel” – as she is forced to make high-stakes decisions during the Yom Kippur War in 1973.

Golda was the world’s fourth and Israel’s first and only woman to hold the office of Prime Minister, as well as the first of any country in the Middle East. She died of lymphoma in 1978, four years after she resigned from office.

The feature will be directed by Oscar-winner Guy Nattiv, known for his work on the film Skin, a short film which he then adapted into a full-length film starring Jamie Bell, Vera Farmiga and Danielle Macdonald.

Helen recently revealed that she had a run in with a bear during quarantine!
