The child star, best known for his work in 1996′s Romeo + Juliet, passed away at the age of 38 after a car crash in Dallas, Texas, his uncle confirmed to the Dallas Morning News.

His uncle told the newspaper that his nephew “was getting ready to make his comeback. He had been in the studio working on a project that was supposed to be released this year.”

Quindon sang in the Baz Luhrmann movie covering Rozalla‘s “Everybody’s Free (To Feel Good)” and Prince‘s “When Doves Cry” on the film’s soundtrack.

He also appeared in two seasons of American Idol, and signed a deal with Virgin Records at age 12. He also appeared in Madonna‘s “Like a Prayer” music video as a child.
