Meet Pom Klementieff, Who Plays Laser in 'Thunder Force' - 5 Things to Know!

1. She’s best known for her Marvel role!

Pom made her debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Mantis in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. You might not recognize her from the movie though as CGI is used to make her look much different!

She also appeared as Mantis in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. She’ll next be seen in 2023′s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.

2. Her big break was in a Spike Lee movie!

Pom‘s big break was in the 2013 movie Oldboy, in which she played Haeng-Bok opposite Josh Brolin and Elizabeth Olsen. The movie was a remake of the South Korean film of the same name.

3. Her name has multiple meanings!

Pom was born to a Korean mother and a French-Russian father. Her name has several meanings with “pomme” meaning apple in French. In Korean, her name can mean both spring or tiger.

4. She has opened up about her sad childhood

Pom opened up in an interview in 2013 about how her father passed away from cancer when she was 5 and her mother was unable to raise her because of her schizophrenia.

She was raised by her paternal uncle, who died on her 18th birthday.

“My uncle was like my second father,” she said. “When he died, I first went to law school to please my aunt, but it just wasn’t for me. Then I worked as a waitress and saleswoman in Paris. I didn’t want to do that for the rest of my life. I was 18 and wanted to do something that can help me express my feelings.”
