Aaron Rodgers Is the Subject of Major NFL Drama Right Now

The 2021 NFL Draft is tonight, but one of the biggest stories right now in football is all about Aaron Rodgers and his alleged drama with the Green Bay Packers.

The 37-year-old football player has been the starting quarterback for the Packers ever since 2008, following three years as back-up to the legendary Brett Favre.

Rodgers brought the team to a Super Bowl victory in 2010 and he was also the league MVP for the 2011, 2014, and 2020 NFL seasons. Despite all of that success with the Packers, he reportedly doesn’t want to play for the team anymore.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted on Thursday afternoon (April 29), “Reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers is so disgruntled with the Green Bay Packers that he has told some within the organization that he does not want to return to the team, league and team sources told ESPN on Thursday.”

Schefter also reports that the San Francisco 49ers inquired about a trade for Rodgers this week while the Los Angeles Rams inquired about a trade in January. The Packers are reportedly not interested in trading him though and his contract with the team doesn’t end until 2023.

The team’s general manager Brian Gutekunst told ESPN, “As we’ve stated since the season ended, we are committed to Aaron in 2021 and beyond. Aaron has been a vital part of our success and we look forward to competing for another championship with him leading our team.”

Aaron‘s issues with the team reportedly began when the team drafted a quarterback with their first-round pick last year, which made him believe that his days with the team could be numbered.

There are also rumors that Aaron wants to be the full-time host of Jeopardy! after serving as a guest host earlier this month. He also recently got engaged to Shailene Woodley and he might want to focus on his family.
