John Legend Reveals Why Chrissy Teigen Decided to Return to Twitter

John Legend is opening up about Chrissy Teigen‘s decision to leave Twitter and why she decided to return to the site.

The 35-year-old cookbook author announced she was quitting the platform in March, explaining that the constant negativity and bullying she experienced on the app was becoming difficult to weather.

She then clarified why she was leaving Twitter in an Instagram post, but ultimately returned to the site three weeks later.

Now, her husband John Legend is speaking out about what contributed to Chrissy‘s decision to leave the app.

John revealed that he believes a significant reason that Chrissy left Twitter was the sexism she experienced on the platform in an interview with Tamron Hall, per E! News.

The 42-year-old musician shared, “For social media, the downside is you get lots of feedback, a lot of good feedback, a lot of bad feedback, too. And people feel somewhat of a cloak of anonymity that they’ll say things to you on Twitter or other social media that they wouldn’t say to you in person. And they feel empowered to be more cruel sometimes.”

“Despite some of the negativity that we all encounter — and I think women encounter more than men, truthfully, on social media — but despite all of that, she felt like the benefits and the positive interaction she has outweighed the negative,” John explained.

“Chrissy honestly missed it,” he added. “She missed the engagement. She missed sharing her thoughts with people.”
