Get to Know 'Lean On Me' Trio Cheat Codes With These 10 Fun Facts! (Exclusive)

Cheat Codes is a DJ trio responsible for some of the most major chart smashes in recent years, and we wanted Just Jared readers to get an exclusive chance to know them a little better!

The group is perhaps best known for their smash single “No Promises” featuring Demi Lovato, as well as hits like “Live Forever” featuring Liam Payne, and “Only You” featuring Little Mix.

The trio also made their acting debut with the Bella Thorne-directed “No Service In The Hills” featuring Trippie Redd, blackbear and PRINCE$$ ROSIE. They’ve also delivered big performances on late night shows like The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel LIVE!

Despite the pandemic shifting everyone’s plans, Cheat Codes stayed busy making new music for their fans, leading up to the release of their debut album, Hellraisers, Pt 1, featuring Tinashe on the standout single “Lean On Me,” which just dropped today (May 7). The long-awaited album is surely set to cement their status as the newest heavyweights on the dance music scene, and is the first of three parts that will be released later this year.

Trevor of Cheat Codes


1. I’ve been a vegetarian for 12 years.
2. I love camping and I’m a big outdoors guy.
3. I dropped out of high school when I was 16.
4. My favorite meal is tacos – I love Taco Bell (favorite fast food).
5. My brother is part of an influencer duo known as The Gay Beards.
6. My brother-in-law Caleb Turman was part of the band Forever The Sickest Kids.
7. I lived in the same house until I was 18, we never moved before then.
8. I’ve been biting my nails since second grade and can’t break the habit.
9. I used to make acoustic music and was signed to Atlantic Records when I was 16.
10. When I was 16, I wrote a song called ‘Truly Madly Deeply’ for One Direction. I might be the youngest person to write for them.

Matthew of Cheat Codes


1. One of my other odd jobs when I first moved to LA was dressing up like Superman.
2. I was born with an extra bone in both of my feet but got one removed.
3 I received a college scholarship for singing from being involved in choir as a kid.
4. When I was really young, I went to a concert and met Skrillex outside the venue. He was wearing these cool Macbeths at the time, so I complimented his shoes, then while he said thanks – he fondled my chest tickling me and said gay is the new email before jumping in his tour bus and I never saw him again.
5. I used to be in a music group with CeCe Fry, who was one of the top 10 finalists on The X Factor second season. Fifth Harmony came from that season.
6. When I was younger, I learned how to play the clarinet, saxophone and bassoon.
7. My brother Brett is a really good painter.
8. When I got my first car, I never changed the oil and the engine exploded.
9. When I first moved to LA, I got hired to play Santa Claus for an adult party, and it was for Samantha Ronson and Rashida Jones and one of the twins for Good Charlotte. I’m sure there’s a picture somewhere probably on Facebook or something. (Update: there is.)
10. Before we formed Cheat Codes, KEVI and I used to do catering and bartending at parties. At one of the parties, I was getting Khloe Khardasian and Ryan Seacrest drunk.

Kevi of Cheat Codes


1. My dad is an Academy Award Winner for Apollo 13, but he’s been nominated many times (Schindler’s List was one of the nominations).
2. My uncle is in a band called Sugar Ray.
3. My brother is in a band called Clear Static who toured with Duran Duran and they won a Teen Choice Award back in the day.
4. I used to be a stunt driver.
5. I made a half-court shot for a college basketball during a halftime show for a $1000 gas card and I have a picture of me super excited on Facebook.
6. My family is in real estate and my grandma used to own the Palladium.
7. I used to be friends with Justin Bieber and lived at his place until he kicked me out of his house in 2013.
8. I used to play basketball and at the age of 18 I was training for the Olympic team.
9. I did independent studies from school at 18- which was the same time I met Justin Bieber, stopped playing basketball and graduated with a 4.0.
10. I attended Oaks Christian School, which is a big celebrity kids’ school, and was friends with Will Smith’s eldest son. #1 Football school in the nation for one year back when I attended.
