Jeffree Star, Jaclyn Hill & More Slam YouTube Stars for Putting Their Dog Down After Biting Their Son

Family YouTubers Dan and Nikki Phillippi are facing backlash.

The couple shared a video on Monday (May 3) where they announced that they had put down their family dog, a bull terrier named Bowser, after he bit their 1-year-old son Logan.

In the clip, Nikki and Dan explained in that Bowser reacted to Logan taking food from him, adding that the injury “wasn’t bad” and their son had a “little mark.”

They also claimed that the Humane Society told them that rehoming the dog would be impossible, which led them to use a euthanasia service to put the dog down at home.

A number of YouTubers, influencers and social media stars responded to video and condemned the couple’s decision.

Influencer Jaclyn Hill tweeted, “I have a very temperamental dog. He bites people when he feels nervous, unsafe or if you try to touch him when he doesn’t want to be… I know these things because im his OWNER. Therefore I make sure he’s not in situations where he will react… I don’t kill him!”

Makeup mogul and YouTuber Jeffree Star chimed in as well, responding to Jaclyn‘s tweet, “Exactly. I’m so disappointed that they even chose to share this information with everyone, but they are a master manipulator so not surprised. Our dogs are our FAMILY and I can’t believe they chose this.”

“It’s hard to fathom how someone could kill their own family dog and make content out of it,” he added in another tweet. “They need to be investigated. As a dog owner who’s animals are my LIFE, this is hard to wrap my head around.”

The video also drew criticism from DIY YouTuber Lauren Riihimaki, aka LaurDIY, who uploaded a video response. Chris Klemens, Def Noodles and Meghan Reinks also shared their thoughts, which you can see below.
