Morgan Wallen Is Disqualified From Some, But Not All Categories at CMA Awards 2021 Amid Slur Controversy

Morgan Wallen is disqualified from some of the categories at the 2021 CMA Awards – but not all of them.

The Country Music Association revealed the ballot schedule and eligibility rules for the upcoming ceremony this November, and also addressed the question of whether the 28-year-old star would be eligible following his racial slur controversy.

Any category where the award would go to his collaborators, as well as himself, will be left open for the singer and his work to be nominated. However, he’s disqualified from any solo categories, via Variety.

Find out what they said…

“The Board of Directors voted to amend Morgan Wallen’s 2021 CMA Awards eligibility: He will be eligible in categories that honor artistic works (Single, Song, Album, Musical Event, and Music Video of the Year categories), so as not to limit opportunity for other credited collaborators. He will not be eligible for nomination in the individual artist categories (Entertainer and Male Vocalist of the Year categories),” a rep said in a statement.

Morgan Wallen recently spoke out since the controversy – find out what he said.
