Oprah Winfrey Defends Harry & Meghan, Says They Deserve Privacy

Oprah Winfrey is speaking out to defend her friends Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and explain why the couple deserves the same right to privacy as everyone else in the world.

The legendary talk show host teamed up with Harry for the new Apple TV+ docu-series The Me You Can’t See, which is streaming now.

Oprah says that even though Harry and Meghan are participating in more projects than ever, which is increasing their visibility in the world, they still deserve to have privacy when they’re at home.

Many trolls have criticized the couple’s request for privacy because of their increased presence in media.

“You know, I ask for privacy, and I’m talking all the time,” Oprah said on The Today Show on Friday morning (May 21). “So I think being able to have a life that you are not intruded upon by photographers, or people flying overhead, or invading your life, is what every person wants and deserves — to not to be intruded and invaded upon.”

“That’s what people are missing. Privacy doesn’t mean silence,” she added.

Oprah also talked about her interview with the couple back in March and how they don’t regret saying what they did.

“They have not shared any regrets with me,” she said. “I understood what had happened to them, and I wanted the rest of the world to come away being able to answer the question, ‘Why did they leave?’ And I think by the time that interview was done, people understood.”

Harry and Oprah talked about the breakthrough moment that they shared while making the new series.
