MTV VMAs 2021 Will Officially Return to New York City - Get the Show Details!

The 2021 MTV Video Music Awards are back!

The annual awards show, also known as the VMAs, will make its return to New York City in 2021, airing live from the Barclays Center on Sunday, September 12, the network confirmed on Tuesday (June 8).

The show will air in over 175 countries and feature performances from top artists still to be announced, and is being billed as one of the first fan-filled award shows of the pandemic era. Any COVID-19 related safety protocols will be announced closer to the event.

This year, MTV is also collaborating with nonprofit 9/11 Day for a series of service-oriented activities during the week leading up to the VMAs to promote awareness and positive action in observance of the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

The partnership will promote charitable acts across the country on September 11 to honor the lives lost, their families, the injured, and those who rose in service.
