Loki director Kate Herron is sharing her thoughts.

Marvel Studios released a new teaser for the series that features a conversation between Loki and Mobius (Owen Wilson). During the clip, a shot focuses on Loki’s TVA file, which lists his sex as “fluid.”

Kate spoke with Insider on Tuesday (June 8) about the show and why it was “important” to include that detail about the character.

“I would say that details are marked in but it is something acknowledged,” Kate told the outlet. “He’s gender fluid in the Norse mythology and the comics and it felt like an important thing to, as you say, make sure it’s canon.”

Though Loki‘s fluidity was confirmed in the comics, this will be the first time the MCU has overtly acknowledged his identity since his film debut in Thor.

Tom Hiddleston also commented on the character’s gender fluidity, telling Inverse, “Breadth and range of identity contained in the character has been emphasized and is something I was always aware of when I was first cast 10 years ago.”

Loki premieres TONIGHT, @ midnight PT/3am ET on Disney+.

Kate also recently shared how she convinced Owen Wilson to join the cast of the show!
