Australian Big Brother's Tilly Whitfield Warns About TikTok Freckle Hack That Caused Her Temporary Blindness & Scars

The 21-year-old Big Brother Australia star recently opened up about the danger of a TikTok trend she saw for homemade freckles.

In an interview with the New York Times, she revealed why she was largely wearing clay face masks and heavy makeup on the show.

She said that last August, she found a TikTok tutorial for how to give yourself freckles that would last for six months using sewing needles and ink.

Though the tutorial didn’t specify the type of ink, she ordered brown tattoo ink she found on eBay, which she later found out was a counterfeit product made with high levels of lead.

“It didn’t hurt at all, so I didn’t think I should stop,” she explained.

Her face swelled up and got infected, which caused her to briefly lose sight in one eye. She also now has scarring across her cheeks and nose, and spent $12,000 already at the doctor.

“The main response has been that I’m stupid, and, yeah, I agree,” she said.

“For those asking why I have my blue clay face mask on continuously through out the show this is what my face looked like a week prior to entering the house hence why I always have makeup on and my skin is always covered. This is the result of attempting to remove scarring I inflicted on myself trying to replicate an at home beauty procedure I saw on a tik tok video 2 months before big brother 🤣 who bloody else would manage to do such a thing,” she explained on Instagram.

“Please please don’t try any ‘DIY’ or ‘at home’ beauty procedures I ended up in hospital with temporary loss of vision in my eye due to swelling and was very sick from the infection, not to mention my face was somewhat unrecognisable.
