Vin Diesel Says Paul Walker 'Sent' John Cena to Play His Brother in 'F9'

Vin Diesel is dishing on John Cena joining the Fast & Furious franchise!

In an interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Wednesday (June 23), Vin talked about John joining the cast of F9 as his character Dom’s brother.

Before John‘s casting, Vin admitted that he had some “anxiety” about finding someone to play his brother.

“Obviously I’m multicultural. You could’ve cast anybody to be my brother,” Vin explained. “For two months before I went into filming, I created a shrine where I could do all the combat training, all the stunts and I had the Charger there to simulate the garage to get into the Dom state of mind.”

Vin continued, “Now the idea of the brother worked great on paper, but when the time came to cast it, anxiety. Who could you cast to be Dom’s brother and 20 years into the game? The audience knows our mythology so much.”

After tons of searching, John entered the picture, and Vin knew it was meant to be.

“And he comes into the shrine one morning,” Vin recalled. “And I had this strange feeling that Paul Walker had sent him.”

Paul starred in the Fast & Furious franchise as Brian O’Conner for seven movies, before his tragic death in a car accident back in 2013. He was 40-years-old.

If you missed it, Vin revealed which star will be appearing in the next year’s Fast & Furious 10.

F9 will be out in theaters on Friday, June 25.
