John Cena Reveals How He Tried To Hide His 'F9' Character's Identity From Fans

John Cena was very diligent on keeping his character’s identity a secret from fans while filming F9.

The 44-year-old actor and WWE star opened up to Digital Spy about what he did to keep Jakob Toretto’s identity hidden from prying eyes, or cameras, that were trying sneak a peek at the movie early, and just what role he was playing.

John shared that if he was spotted on set with it, the secret could have been revealed.

In the film, he stars as Jakob Toretto, the long-lost brother of Vin Diesel‘s Dom and Jordana Brewster‘s Mia.

“It’s amazing that that one piece of jewelry has so much energy and gravity around it,” he told Digital Spy about the family cross that Jakob wears, similar to Dom. “That was the one thing I put on before they said roll and as soon as they said cut, I would take it off, and that was how we kept everything under wraps.”

John says that “after every take, take it off, hide it, give it to someone.”

“The costumes are the costumes and they can be whatever you needed it to be, but if there was ever a candid with a coffee in my hand and the cross, that’s a dead giveaway.”
